Approach

Suffering is abundant. So is pleasure and joy.

The space we co-create is meant to deepen your understanding of yourself, reduce suffering, and help you flourish.

I'm an existentially attuned therapist who considers the whole person: body, mind, spirit, past, present and future. Collaboration and honest dialogue matter to me. Most of all, I listen, and I offer safety, validation and kind care.

We start by getting to know you and your lived experience. We explore what brought you here, then decide together where to rest our attention. Along the way we stay mindful of how your thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations shape one another.

I often see symptoms like depression and anxiety as signals of misalignment deeper within a person. Together, we build your ability to be flexible and present with yourself, and to move toward an authentic life that fits your values.

What we can work on

I work well with people searching for identity, meaning and purpose.

Meaning & identity

Feeling stuck, unsure who you are becoming, or questioning where your life is headed.

Anxiety, depression & stress

Emotional regulation, coping skills, self-esteem, and sleep that won't settle.

Relationships & couples

Codependency, conflict, peer relationships, and learning to be close without losing yourself.

Grief, loss & life transitions

Endings, beginnings, and the fear of death that can sit underneath both.

Spirituality

Making sense of spiritual and transpersonal experiences and integrating them into daily life.

Habits & substance use

Reducing unhealthy patterns with curiosity instead of shame. ADHD and behavioral concerns, too.

LGBTQ+ affirming, and allied with queer, trans, non-binary, intersex, sex worker and racial justice communities. I also welcome clients looking for an Asian-American therapist. The areas above are interests, not claims of specialist expertise.

About Julia

Juyeon Julia Suh, MA (she/her)

I know it can be hard to be vulnerable and to trust another person with your raw thoughts and emotions. I believe you already have everything within you to live a life well lived, and that the work of understanding how you are in the world is worth doing.

My training is broad by design: cognitive psychology and neuroscience, behavioral science, embodiment, spirituality and substance use. I enjoy close conversations guided by curiosity.

Questions

What happens in the free consultation?

We spend about 15 minutes getting a sense of what you're looking for, how I work, and whether we feel like a good fit. You can ask anything about fees, scheduling or my approach.

Do you take insurance?

I don't bill insurance. Paying directly means no diagnosis is sent to an insurer and your therapy records stay private. Rates are $60 per individual session, with a sliding scale and a discounted 10-session bundle.

What does "pre-licensed" mean?

I've completed my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and am accruing supervised clinical hours toward full licensure in Hawaiʻi. My clinical work is reviewed by my supervisor, Dr. Christine Park, PhD, LMHC (MHC-282).

Can I do sessions online?

Yes. Online sessions run on weekdays and evenings through a secure telehealth platform. In-person sessions are in Kailua on Thursdays.

Do you see couples and teens?

Yes. I see individuals and couples, and work with preteens, teens, adults and elders.
